In the mid-1900s many farmers used buildings like this one to store wheat and oat grains harvested in the fall and fed to livestock over the winter. This one was built in the 1930s by Mr. Bert Greiner in White Church, north of West Plains, Mo.
Card size: 4 x 5.5. Weight: 16 point. Envelopes: White 70#.
In the early 1900’s every farm had a granary, a double-walled storage shed where the harvested grain was stored for use through the winter.
This granary, sheltered by an old oak tree, was built by my husband’s family sometime around the 1930’s. It stands strong today as a reminder of the farm life of yesteryears. Photo by LaDonna Greiner.
